Declutter

First things first. Is your house full of clutter? Having “stuff” everywhere can make the house look crowded and small. This can be something as simple as having toys everywhere. Clutter can be off putting for a number of reasons so, for the best chance of a quick sale, having a good clear out will make a huge difference.

The minimalist approach can make a room look much bigger and give the appearance of much more space. Give it a Deep Clean

A dirty house can be really off putting. It’s always nice to have a good deep clean and makes the property smell nicer too. Throw open the windows and get to work cleaning all the nooks and crannies paying special attention to:

Items such as new toilet seats, bath panels, soap holders, toothbrush holders etc. are also cost-effective solutions to makeover a bathroom. Put fresh towels out before viewings, making sure the bathroom is clean and tidy.

While a complete new kitchen can be costly and time-consuming, it is one of the major factors in selling a house. In fact, it’s no surprise that 65% of vendors will renovate their kitchen before they sell. You don’t have to have a complete new kitchen. For a relatively small budget you can change the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, replace handles, worktops etc and make it look as good as new. Many people choose to paint the cabinets and the tiles rather than changing them while popping new flooring down can make a significant enhancement.

You don’t have to call in landscapers to make the most of your garden but cutting the lawn before viewings, jet washing the patio and decking, weeding and digging borders/turning them over will all make the garden look much more appealing. It’s also a good idea to get some bedding plants from your local garden store to add colour to the borders.

Giving the fences a fresh coat of paint is an easy enhancement to make to the front and rear of the property. Kerb Appeal

Consider the kerb appeal of your property and how it looks to potential buyers? This will be the first thing a buyer sees. Could the front door benefit from a fresh coat of paint? Is the exterior tidy and free from weeds? Is the driveway clean?

Hanging baskets can make your home look inviting while any borders, flower beds and garden space to the front should be weeded, grass cut and bedding plants added to give a good first impression.
